We started with a (14) hole rabbit room from a converted sun room off of our front porch. This is very handy, and climate controlled, but to be honest we very quickly out grew our original little room and need more space.
We got hit with a small tornado on March 31st 2008, that did substantial damage to our home, and extensive damage outside to fences and pens. Luckily no one was home at the time, and no critters were hurt at all. After about 3 months of extensive remodeling, a new roof, new sheetrock and insulation we were again finally able to progress with our new Rabbit Barn.
In 2009 we moved into our new humble little family rabbitry which was inside a 12x16 metal building on concrete slab., it has a 9ft peak ceiling and 8ft (due to slope) at both the right and left hand sides. It has one thermo pane window with small A/C unit, a double door, which can be sealed off entirely or opened with a 3ft. tall wire door allowing air flow.
Like anything good, we continue to grow and expand. So in late 2009/early 2010, I already plan to double the size of our existing rabbitry. This will give us much more needed space. We have also learned I like wider isleways, so the new rabbitry will have 36" (3ft.) minimum isle width. This should also help with airflow as well as obviously more space to get in and take care of things.
Below is the front veiw of the completed rabbitry in 2009. We will be building onto the left side (where it is wood with the window) and double the overall size.
